I recently picked up a lot of walkmans for a really good price and I saw a blue WM-FK2 That I really liked. Upon receiving I noticed that everytime I turned it on and clicked play a loud almost like grinding sound would play for a few moments while the light blinks red before stopping. I was able to open the back up but found no examples of damage other than, the cable circuitry stuff (I think its called a ribbon cable) between the tape head and the pcb was either ripped or cut by something. Anyone know any fixes, perhaps a way to get replacement parts or some type of repair job to get it working again? (Google drive attached has photos and video demonstrating the damage and issue) https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1N7hD00MuzB2x7aq9sA3ybZZI0W-XZK4f?usp=drive_link Not my exact model but an image of the walkman I'm referring to.
We've talked about those ribbon cables before and they aren't easy to fix, I think I've seen some newer solutions on YouTube. I think you can buy rolls of it but it won't have any curves in it. I had a MD player years ago and I researched a ton trying to find a fix for it's ribbon cable and never saw an easy solution but, again, I think there is some alternatives that might work, I just can't remember where I saw it.
