Attached is the new Aurex boombox reviewed by Techmoan. Hugo (@walkman archive) makes a guest appearance.
    Description from YouTube:

"Toshiba in Japan has launched a High Res capable cassette recorder. What exactly does that mean and is it any good? Let's find out. Special thanks to Hugo for his work on the audio analysis.

Track Name: Busted by John Deley

If you want to hear the effects of the up-conversion of a cassette yourself
    - you can download the audio here: https://bit.ly/2KB6PVn To make these files, first two identical recordings of the track 'Busted' were made onto one tape in one continuous go (the track was on repeat) from a Sony HAP-S1 digital audio player onto a Sony TC-K333ESJ which contained new-old-stock TDK SA90 tape. This tape was then played back on the Toshiba TY-AK1 - the first track with the Up-convert option off and the second with it switched on.

The recordings were done from the headphone output into a PCM recorder (WAV format). These recordings are unedited. If you just want to see the end comedy sketch on it's own - it's here:

If you want to see the rest of the comedy outros - they're all collected in this playlist that can only be accessed by the people who read video description text boxes (that's you) - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...

    Very interesting video,
and very disappointing to see that high res audio on this Toshiba boombox was not a real res and the equipment is not well built.

There's no such thing as a "high res cassette". Cassettes aren't digital.

And since cassettes aren't digital, there's no way to "upscale" them.

I am curious though of what happens if the Upscaling functionality could be used on TOL cassette deck, and not limited to CD's as the source.
@Boodokhan I am hoping that enough customers buy this product so that enough interest in Cassettes snowball into renewed development in Cassette technologies.
@Reli, @deech At least to be fair this boombox isn't being marketed as High Fidelity, if the upscaling gimmick is essentially "fill in the blank" then High-Res is a better word.

With how dissapointed I am in this product i would be better of spending my money restoring my dad's Hitachi trk-8200e.

Exactly!!! I remember saying something to this effect here:
    New Hi Res Cassette?

Maybe, and maybe not! The reason for this gizmo's exi$tence is pretty evident: the same as Crosley's $30 LP players (with speakers, usb, bluetooth and whatnot included).
It would be interesting to know if such products actually raise buyers interest in cassettes/vinyl or do they kill it?
