Hi, I'm kind of new to this site, been on it a lot looking at things but never registered. I like older rap (Tupac, Notorious BIG, Big L, NWA, etc.) and I got into boomboxes somewhere in high school when I built/made one from cardboard for a "pop culture project". I have a Realistic Modulators 1000, but I'm really looking for a Realistic SCR-6, or SCR-8. Those two for some reason are "my dream boomboxes". Also, I'm looking for information on one that my cousin's friend is looking to sell to me. It's a Fisher boombox but I can't find any info online. I found the Sanyo version, the "M-X520K" online but not the Fisher. Attached is a picture of the Fisher, any info on it would be greatly appreciated. What is this thing called? And about how much would be a fair price to pay for it?
The Fisher PH 250 has at least a twin, the Saba RCR 426 Transeuropa, my "Queen of Sheba" boombox They're both variation on the theme of the Sanyo M-X 620 Instead, the Sanyo M-X 520 is a totally different beast, with similar look but with proper line-in. A superior version, in my opinion -- even if it has only AM/FM radio and no fine tuning. All those radios look cool (yes, they bear a remote resemblance to more than one of the CFS Sonys) perform well and have the almost "perfect" size -- ie, neither too small nor too big. I don't know how much a fair price would be. Depending on the conditions, the Saba used to sell around 40-60 euros on ebay about three years ago. I have never seen the Fisher for sale. Btw all this info was in the old site. Or, which is the same, it's in the frozen Database now. That's why we are constantly rediscovering the wheel...
Thank you all for the information I'm still fairly new to all of this, but that's a lot of information I'm happy to learn. I looked at that picture I was sent and thought "eh, maybe I'll buy it I don't know" but after really seeing it I think I just might. Thanks again
Thats a lovely box and as others have said it is a Sanyo aka, i would grab it if you can as its a corker.
[QUOTE="... What exactly does "corker" mean in relation to boomboxes?...[/QUOTE] It simply means a great box
