Hi, I know there are some old posts on this system, but I just got an Aiwa CSD-NS1U and would like to change the belts as the tape player is not working. I have managed to take the back off of this stereo, but cannot slide the main center system out. It's seems to be caught up on something in the front. I took off the volume knob in the front, but I cannot see where its hanging up. Any help would be appreciated. I can see the belts and they are loose so i think if i can get the unit out I should be able to change the belts.

Welcome to the forum. Getting some equipment apart can be tough without a service manual. I'll type "AIWA CSD-NS1U Service Manual .pdf" into the search engines and look at the images when searching.

Sometimes players have long screws from the back holding everything together and sometimes you have to take the cassette door off (gently lift up when open). Sometimes after you take the door off there's visible screws under it. Good luck!

Sometimes it is as easy as simply opening the doors. If the door is attached to the front panel while the mechanism is attached to the chassis, the door latch will hold them together.

Hi, I do have the service manual , but cannot see anything obvious other than all the screws that held the back on. Even with the cd lid up it makes no difference. The lower part of the mechanisms seems to be free and able to move , but it’s hung up at the top by the cd mechanism. I wondered if it had pins at the top to connect the display, but I don’t want to pull too hard and break anything. Some members show this mechanism removed so there’s probably a trick I’m missing?
