Hey guys I’m Jim, getting on a bit now but I grew up in the age of the Walkman and have recently been buying and repairing a few since I enjoy repairing stuff generally and have always messed with electronics since I was a little kid. I’m forever in beginner category though still! Recently repaired a Toshiba kt4568 Walkman as I had one as a youth and bought a faulty one recently. That works great now. Also repaired a nice little Panasonic unit although I still need a new battery door for it. Now I got a very nice Aiwa ha-rx618 that had a few faults. I’ve replaced the belt but the sound is horrible, so I’m going to be looking for some help and advice in the tech forum, and searching for info on similar models. I also love old boomboxes and have a few retro ones. thanks all!
Thanks for the welcomes! Some of the kit I've got includes for boomboxes: Hitachi TRK-3D80E ("3D Superwoofer") Philips AZ8304 3 different TDK boomboxes, the 2 speaker, 3 speaker, and the cube. They're all boxes I either wanted when I was younger and couldn't have, or that I owned before and wanted the nostalgia. For walkmen.... Toshiba KT4568 (had one as a kid and wanted one again), was fine after replacing belt Panasonic RQ-S50 (repaired with new belt) Aiwa HS-RX618 (fitted new belt and it runs now but horrible noise so I started a topic for hopefully a bit of help with that) Sony WM-FX615 (just received it the other day, bought as a "tested" working one from ebay and a cheap price but found on receipt the radio is fine but the tape does not play at all. Suspected just the belt so I opened it up tonight and found it stretched like crazy and with a huge knot in it! New one ordered) Also did have a JVC CX-10 walkman that I bought when I was very young and I absolutely loved it, but cannot now find it and am sadly having to accept that I think it's maybe been thrown out in the last few years during a 'clear up'. Gutted.
JVC didn't have many but they sure did leave an impression. My last portable purchase was a JVC, you can't go wrong with them.
