I really enjoy listening to music which I am sure y'all do as well! In the last couple of years, as an almost 60 year old, I have gotten back into vinyl. Tapes are part of that. Looking forward to helping, and being helped along the way!

    Thank you!

Jerry, welcome to the forum where all things music related are enjoyed! I've been digging deep into the old magazine archives on other websites and you realize how much the vinyl and cassette generation really took the technical aspects seriously for their music reproduction, it's amazing how they really tried to improve quality every year. Personally I like that there's a million different designs and if your handy with a soldering iron and multimeter you can fix a good portion of it with basic knowledge.

I have sometimes wondered how much the build your own PC craze killed off the build your own HiFi hobby.
Back in the early 80s the HiFi magazines were full of articles about 'Buy this turntable, and this arm, and this cartridge"
Then computer magazines were saying "Buy this PSU, this Motherboard, and this CPU'.

I'm not sure what the modern equivalent is. 'Load this app on your phone" ?

I'm sure they were connected on the same level but the computer guys and stereo guys seemed to run in different circles. Over here I feel it was the stigma of having a huge stereo was looked down upon, just like certain muscle cars were sneered at, the large stereos were relics of the 70's and in the 80's it was about Walkmans and Toyotas.
