They also did a Triangular shaped Personal Stereo with a small speaker at the bottom D6608.
Back in 1989 I bought my Landlady one new as a parting gift.

The Moving Sound Series is one of the goofiest looking from a mainstream company. In fact some of the ads with the face drawings harken back to the horrendous ads Marantz put out in the 70's, I wonder with Philips Ownership if they brought the Marantz Marketing Department with them?

An interesting article about the moving sound range which contains links to other articles.

    http://www.charneira.com/2010/06/so-80s.html

I have to admit I bought a Roller 2 brand new purely for the looks and had it on my bookshelf for years.
I can't say the sound was up to much though.

A shame that Philips, the company that invented the compact cassette, Home VCR, Laserdisc, and co-invented the CD
no longer makes or sells consumer electronics. Anything you see these days is just using the name under licence.

Lack of quality (as noted above) and their love of easily breakable plastic in products like the infamous "Lego" VCR deck might explain their withdrawal from the consumer electronic market.

Not a boombox but a cool Philips Transistor from 1965, right before they put out the first cassette boombox.

Sorry I can't tell what the model number is but this is one of those super-early portable stereo radios, I wonder how many FM Stereo Stations there were back in 1966.

It's the Philips 22RL165 (mentioned in the ad). This is an AM only (MW/LW) radio so no FM stereo unfortunately. The model is in a 1967 catalog.

I can't tell from the specs but does it really have two speakers? It must have been impressive back then, they really made sure to detail the speakers.

It does have two speakers. The measurements of the radio are 12 x 20.5 x 2.7 cm, so the speakers are not very large, not more than 5 - 6 cm diagonal.

In 1968 there was a similar model called the 22RL280.
In the ad, top left it says 1891-1966 so the 22RL195 looks like a 75-year jubilee model, I can't read the language.
I think the ad is from Indonesia which has been a dutch colony and philips made some models especially for the markets 'in the east'.
Maybe (I'm not sure at all) this model was renamed for the dutch market as 22RL280. Technical info in the PDF attached.

Nice StaticAudio! Feel free to post anything you have, this is good stuff.

The blog I found mine on lists all kinds of odd dates so I put it down to google translation error. I like to try and put in the date, hopefully it helps when people are looking for information.
