I found this Lasonic at a Yard Sale in Los Angeles - I can't find any information about it online. Can anyone help me identify it? Thanks!
Most likely never brought over here but it's a Karaoke Machine and they come up every few years (along with the other karaoke models from around this time). I don't know exactly how they work but I think you have to have 8-tracks with pre-recorded music only, no vocals, and then you sing along. I think the tape deck is for recording or singing along with regular cassetes but don't quote me. I have a new JVC that takes Karaoke CDs, I never got into it but if I bought some CDs that seem to work with most of the brands, I could sing along and there's an RCA out for my CRT TV which shows the lyrics. You'd have to go back a few years but I've posted it on here. Karoake is so huge in Asia and Japan, they have multi-level buildings with dozens of private rooms where you party with your friends and sing. Even here we used to have a killer bar that had a full band, they knew every song and you'd could be a star for one requested song. The oddball stuff is always fun and this is cheezy enough that it displays well. I'm not sure if the case is even more rare but I think the whole thing splits apart. Be careful of the voltage, I think 117v at 60Hz will be fine but make sure.
