Yesterday I bought a flea market find and it's a Realistic SCR-8. It looks similar and is the same as my GE "Blockbuster" but with LED VU meters rather than the analog meters on the GE. As expected the tape deck is jammed. I did a FCC ID search and the OEM for these beauties wwas Sampo Electronics in Taiwan. The tape mechanism is extremely complex and parts are non existent it seems. Has anyone ever unjammed these and got it working? Any tips would be appreciated.
Docs is probably the man to speak to as he has recently fixed up one of these i think. I don't see him on much but you could msg him on here and boomboxery and see if he replies.
Have you opened the back and spun the flywheel with your finger rotating the Mechanism until the deck completes its cycle? and then lowers the heads? This model I have and I have not worked on mine yet.
