Hello , I recently purchased Sharp GF-8585 and having trouble with tape mechanism. When I press play button is does not stay in place. Any idea what it can be and how to fix it ?
I don't own that model but a lot of the time the lube gets hard or doesn't work and the sliding metal parts don't move easily. Clean all the moving surfaces with something like IPA (alcohol) or I also use Simple Green. Watch the movements, pushing PLAY should have a rotating piece that locks in some where when the head comes up. When you push STOP, the piece rotates and the head retracts. This bar will get stuck and needs cleaning and lube. I can do basic repairs, someone else on here might no more info.
