Sony D-555 with case and AC wall adapter. Also comes with the usual 2 old original dead lead acid batteries. I helped ElectronicsDIY on e-bay with measurements to make the Toslink optical out cover cap's. When he succeeded in making them I bought one. And with my order were a free "middle gear", spare D-555 battery cover, two reproduction D-555 top decals and some Sony orange stickers. These are included. Also included is the new rechargeable lithium BP -2EX type battery. USB charge port built in. From that e-bay store in Singapore. I bought it from e-bay August 2021. To listen to it. Not to look at it. I wanted to hear with my own ears. The old e-bay pictures were bad, lots of dust and hair, taken with a flash, looked like junk. It languished for over a month on e-bay. I took a chance based on description. All it had wrong was the usual green rotting middle gear and 3 leaking 100uf SMD electrolytic capacitors. Easy fix. Sounds fantastic. And it cleaned up very well. I love the line out direct to headphones. Has upgraded Nichicon Fine Gold 220uf capacitors on the Headphone Out. (Those are what is shown in my picture icon with every post.) See the thread I made on the repairs and inside etc,. Sony D-555 (1990) Capacitor replace & pictures The old Capacitors are included. As well as the old AC930 wall adapter capacitor which was upgraded to Nichicon Fine Gold 2200uf. Important Note: This D-555 top display clear plastic has internal spider web cracks. See pictures. Visible at shallow angles of viewing. (No damage to the LCD. There is a big air space between the top clear plastic and the glass LCD below.) The cracks do not come to the surface, either on top or on the other side. I had the lid apart to access and clean the buttons and was looking to backfill the cracks and polish them out. But there was nothing there. Cosmetic damage from what? How did it happen? Seller was for an estate sale on e-bay and it had been in the case for a long time. Stacked with heavy object on top maybe? But there is no evidence of lid damage in any other way. No dents or cave-ins at all. Lid is perfect. Leather case is in excellent condition. Clean. I made a solid Teak wood block to fit perfectly inside the case to hold its shape. Otherwise the case will crunch flat and out of shape and look ugly. Suitable for display cases. So $420US plus shipping, more due to the case and block of heavy wood, probably $35US to US destinations. And unlike e-bay you know it will work and doesn't need any repairs. But the top display has those spider web cracks. Hence the low price. Not in a rush to sell. Not interested in selling to new members who just show up to try and buy it. This is for the good guys on this forum here who want to hear what a D-555 sounds like. Flexible on price and willing to trade. Won't ship to strange places where it will get caught up in customs and never be seen again etc.,
I will throw in the remote control and receiver eye for free. And drop the price $30 down to $420US + the shipping. Just post a reply here to this thread if you have any interest... but think it is still priced too high. I am flexible.
