That would be a great piece to share, are you using a computer or phone to post threads? I like to scan the brochures but if you don't have a scanner than a photo from either a phone or digital camera would work.

Years ago we had a member, Arkay, in Hong Kong. He'd have very long, descriptive stories of all these used electronic shops he'd visit on the way home from work where he'd pick up obscure, high-end, extremely rare vintage audio. For several years he claimed his camera wouldn't sync with his computer but he still had thousands of posts. At least one international collector visited him and confirmed his story but to everyone else it was a leap of faith.

My love for the Marantz Portable Line is partly due to him although I had a lot of Marantz full size equipment before his posts.

Hi Mr X. Thanks for reply. I would love to put some photos on but as i have said i onlyhave a samsung mobile phone and no coputer. I know nothing about computers etc and dont know anyone that does this. An administrator has asked me to post photos but have had to tell him the same thing. I only bought Sony walkmans, discmans, minidisk portables over the years so i am unable to compare with other makes. I just know that they sound very good to me. I like to read all your threads- very interesting- you certainly have a vast knowledge of all types of equipment. I also have a few other brocures from years ago that i got whenever i could. All from Sony centres. Thanks again.

Hi again. My daughter has just returned from a trip to Japan. Before she went i asked her to keep an eye open for a walkman of any type. She replied- you dont still listen to those things do you? .I replied , have you ever sat down and listened to a tape on a walkman through some good headphones. I got no answer. She must have forgotten all the tecording i did while she was young. I love classical music and i recorded all my cd's on to T.D.K and a few Sony metal tapes using the Sony ES range of decks which unfortunately don'have any more. I have just spoken to my daughter on her return but she has not spoken anything about what i askd her so say no more. Keep up the good work. Thank you for reading.

Thanks for the comments, I was trying to figure out the best way to help you post photos. I'm assuming your phone is a smart phone with a camera and your reading this forum on it. There is a test thread that you could try posting a photo to, just go to the thread and post a comment, there should be either a paperclip or button at the top that looks like a photo, hit that and it will look for you photo. You may have to do a little more, I don't post from a phone so I don't know if it's different.

Interesting to see the original prices. I have RM DM 2 wired controller but I would like RM DM 1 as well but I would not pay the asking prices on Ebay these days. They are all £150 - £200 buy it now asking price so I hope to get one for a reasonable price one day!

I think DZ555 is the only CD player worth more now second hand than it was when new! Not counting for inflation of course.

Yes DD9 prices are crazy to me and maybe there are just less of them in circulation compared to D6C. But I would have thought DC2 are equally rare and they are considered by some to be better or at least equal in quality.

I have not had the pleasure of trying a DD9 but from the countless reviews and posts I've read over years the D6C, DC2 are probably better (though a bit bulkier), and still a fifth of the price of a DD9 so someone who is interested or has done any reading would be going for those I would have thought.

I guess if one person pays a lot once for a rare item, it sets the benchmark for the next sale and it goes up and up!

Simon, thays very true. I have the d-6c, dc-2( split centre cog)-beautiful units but i would not pay the e-bay crazy prices. Like you have never heard the dd-9. I didnt like the poor 5mw headphone out- i like my music loud. The people with more money than sense will continue to push prices up and up. Do they really aporeciate these marvels or just want them only to resell at maybe double the price. I think like everything the bubble will burst.

That is what I see also: TOTL Discman for collectors! Denons DPC-100 and 150 are even harder to find, but because of their rubberized matt finish they did not age nicely and look pretty beaten if ever been used! I still hope to get me someday DPC-100, but each passing year just raises the price for these ugly-ducklings :(

@Derek marshall Many Thanks for the info!!! I am on a mission to make the most comprehensive table of Discman's parts composition (downloadable off square-2.com, I contracted this idea from kaosuncd.com) and thanks to you I now updated that MSRP for D-88 was the same as for D-250...
Once my present obsession with bboxes ends, I should get D-88 in my collection!!

Hi Jorge. I have several old brocures from back in the eighties/nineties but only one that states the prices. I dont think they issued prices too often as prices probably may have changed quite a lot. Would like to post some photos but as i have told various people i only have Android mobile phone-no computer. Am trying to find someone who can help me with that. Thanks for reply.

Words of wisdom, my friend!! But in my case it will... for the mundane reason that I ran out of space!!! Once my present resto line-up of two Panasonics, two Marantzes and Sony ZILBAP (just check @Reli 's wikibbox what this stands for! Hilarious!!) are fixed or destroyed, I am reverting to the quiet life of fixing Discman babies. Or get to learn how to sell my restored boxes, though the idea sounds painful
I do want to get me JVC M-70 someday to have some "reference point" for bboxes ultimate SQ, so maybe one more will be dragged in here under the ever-watchful radar of The Boss! :)

Hi Jorge. I agree with you my friend. Have got this walkman to replace belts, d-100 to try and repair and finally to get my d-c2 and tc-d3 repaired(usual problem). So now i'm just going to sit down and enjoy my units that are working. Thanks for all your help.

To attach a photo to a post is pretty simple. Choose the "upload a file" option when you make a new post/thread, then click on the "choose file" button. After that you should see an option for where you want to get the file from (for Apple devices it's shown below... ie, from your phone's galley/photo album, Dropbox, cloud account, etc, etc). Pick the photo(s) you want to share and it will upload it to this forum (one photo at a time). Then just post the message after the images have been uploaded by clicking on "post reply". This is how it's done for home computers/laptops, as well as most Apple and android devices. Hopes this helps.
