This will probably be of less interest here but a few might have static equipment for recording purposes and the rather thin pretext that at least one unit is semi portable.

I confess I had nothing from this catalog, relying on my portable gear.

Same deal as previous I have it scanned as pdf in Dropbox if anyone wants a copy as it's too big to upload here.

Anyone who has a "Sony HiFi Catalog - Autumn 1983 (UK)" sized hole in their collection and doesn't mind covering the cost of postage, can have the actual original.

The FH Series is highly desired by most cassette collectors. Thanks for posting! I don't have any of these units but I do have my FH-100W proudly displayed. The build quality on mine is unbelievable and it looks stunning everything has a purpose and isn't added to make it look better. The dual mini-cassette deck is one of the nicest looking. Mine was put out in the late 80's when most mini-stereos were mostly crap but Sony up'd their game with the FH's.

I've always felt that Sony and Honda had a similar level of appeal to me in that they were dependable if not the most exciting, having said that both have exhibited the odd flash of mad exuberance that showed what they were capable of but never really took off to their mass markets. As for design, I'm a big fan of nothing left out but nothing just for the sake of it and clean lines :thumbsup2:

Couldn't agree more.. Back then in the 80's, I like the FH as much as the Civic!

I get tears in my eyes looking at that car Ken80's! Honda nailed it and even had the two door coupe to go with it. I went to school for industrial design but when the auto companies went to rounded bug shaped cars in the 90's I didn't follow. Honda and Sony were very similar, they used the same font on their names and they made even the small details look cool. That CIVIC, with the exception of the rims, would look new and exciting today if it had never been released back then.

We are from the same era with similar taste and liking. In fact I have a desire that one day I will collect these Honda vintages if I have a chance. Repaint and restore them back for hobby use. I will definitely look for an oldskool audio set to go along with it to make a perfect 80's look and feel.

Oooooh, that's nice, there is still something very cool about the green panel backlights of that era. I had a very similar Clarion of about the same period, makes my eyes water when I think of what it cost then and gave away not a decade later :cry

Those cars rusted like crazy over here in the winter (we salt our roads). I rarely see them anymore but they do pop up for sale from time to time. That Alpine has a FH-7 Vibe to it, I always wondered if some of the nice 80's boxes had some car component stereo parts in them, my Sony XF-5000 is just a metal box with a car stereo stuffed in it and two speakers added.

The Civic looks too much like an old Rover, although I like the big windows

Back in the 1980s several thought the Honda Integra was one of the best looking cars on the road, especially from back. 1989_Honda_Integra2.jpg 1989_Honda_Integra.jpg
We only got the five door here. The three door looks even better.

That made me think "I haven't seen one of those for years" so i checked this site

    https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/honda_integra_lx

Taking the most popular model in the last 25 years we have gone from 2812 on the road to 12 on the road and 17 off the road stored away somewhere.
As Mr X said rust isn't kind to old cars.
