    depends

This model is an expensive high quality MD recorder. Do you like to record on mini discs? If you like to record CD quality sound on mini discs then probably it is worth to buy it.
If you plan to listen to pre-recorded minidisc media you can find cheaper mini disc players.

I really enjoy my 2 x MZ-R90 recorders and they work great but would be great to get the last model off the line :)

Someone from Oz who advertises a "warning pamphlet" on EBay (that's all I can describe it as, due to the fact there are no pictures and certainly no real details, as he naturally wants payment for the advice) tells you not to buy as you'll be faced with high repair bills or a useless brick, resulting from an inevitable mechanism flaw which they all suffer from - akin to the Walkman DD gear failure. I bought one myself well before hearing about this, but got a refund after the seller failed to reveal cosmetic damage (the surfaces need full protection due to scratching by breathing on them!). I'm glad I did after seeing the warning, and googling "problems" with this model - sorry not to remember the exact aspect, but I would recommend giving it a miss, no matter how "minty" or "light use" they're advertised as.

Just come across a User Review on the "Audiofanzine" website which is subtitled "Do not buy". Hope this helps!

Hello, I have one which I have used every now and then for years and never had a problem so far.

I only use it for playing and have never connected it to a computer for anything so not sure on software issues etc., but as for design and looks it is way above other portables.

I like display graphic equalisers so I enjoy the one on this model which others just don't have.

But I agree for the price they go for, it is more of a risk than a cheaper model which you could easily and cheaply replace if it stopped working.
