Looking for technician to service my Sony TC 880-2 R2R. Does anybody know if there are any in Los Angeles area that can service this unit ?
I had to look it up, wow, what a beautiful deck! I have to believe somebody would dive into it, maybe check Tapehead.net or audiokarma.org, feel free to post photos on here, I'd love to see more of this very rare deck. 80 freakin lbs, are you kidding me? I don't know what your skill level is but if it's just not working, with no tape, try threading tape through both reels, I've gotten killer deals on decks because of a tape tension pulley on the right side needs to be pulled up, there's a microswitch telling the deck to turn on when it has tension. Basically when the tape runs through fully, the pulley goes down and the deck turns off.
