The belt arrive to replace the old belt which had split and I Had removed all screws and also the locking mechanism and I had taped all the screws and pieces onto a sheet of paper for safekeeping. I replaced the belt and I was delighted to find that everything worked as it should Play FF /Rew. I then put the back unit in place and started to try to fox the lovcking mechanism which is in three pieces with lock spring and the outside screw .I looked at another unit I had and after several attempts and some nos allá out of time I had managed to attach the spring and lock in place Ithen tried to put the back in place but it was not easy as you needto hold the lock in place to get the lid on and th is took several attempts and removal of the back piece as the black plastic bits for the battery adaptor kept falling out as they were quite lose .at last I managed to do this and I tried to test play again before I put all the screws back. This time nothing happened Also the lock mechanism was in place but it would not lock and unlock . I then noticed that there was a small piece of the wiring unit sticking out the back through which One of the back screws has to go. I took off the back and then I saw that to my horro the wiring had split as well just befor where the screw enters a hole I presume this is why It no longer operated .I am very disappointed as I took a lot of care . Can anyone give me any suggestion how I can repair this damage and also get the lock to work I fear it is a goner but I live in hope.Twopictures of the damage referred to are attached
