Other than the boxy design aesthetics from the 80's, I'm always attracted to the unique and colorful models that are often aimed at the younger generations. The "My First Sony" series are an example of this, and just yesterday I finally got my favorite looking one of the series, the WM-3300. It was quite dirty, but functions well enough. These models really aren't about the sound quality, but it sounds good enough for me to be happy. After cleaning, though, it looks are very nice with all the bright colors! It's a shame that this model doesn't incorporate a see-though window like most of the other My First Sony walkmans. As with the many lower end plastic models, it was very easy to disassemble, making it easy to take pics of the insides. I found it quite interesting inside actually. I'm tying to figure out this unit's postion in the My First Sony range. It's got a larger head with adjustable azimuth, but lacks a switch to turn off the AVLS and is made in China.
Now you need a boombox to go with it https://www.petervis.com/radio-cassettes/cfs-2050/sony-cfs-2050.html https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=m...BC5M:&imgrc=32Y_tam0xPqMnM:&spf=1542964067990 I'm wondering which came first. The Philips Roller (which was aimed at Tweenagers) or these ?
I look at these on eBay as well, but I'm put-off by the prices some of them seem to go for. I'd love one with the window in it so you can see the inner workings.
Hmm... I don't really know the answer to that, but they're from around the same time, late 80's - early 90's. Never seen the Philips stuff in person, but from the pics I got a feeling they're of a lower built quality than the My First Sony series? I don't think I'll be getting the boombox though, I'm really picky when it comes to boomboxes, mainly because they take up too much space that I don't actually have... But the Philips D8304 does caught my eye. Will be looking out for that one I think. http://joongoods.weebly.com/store/p11/1985_Philips_D8304_Moving_Sound_Ghetto_Blaster.html Yeah, I do think these are overpriced these days. I'm buying stuff locally, so they're much lower than ebay prices, but they still do get quite expensive. The one to look for is the later ones, since their windows are larger (e.g. WM-3060).
