I have just replaced the main gear and repaired the rewind gear on my D3 The playback is excellent and now the mechanism is quiet, the rewind does tick a little as I re glued the cracked rewind gear but will replace it once Mihokm on ebay starts the sell them I have tried recording on a new (old stock) Sony metal tape from my pc using flac files to the D3 The playback quality is not that great with the low freq blown out. Using the same tape recorded from my pc using my D6C connected to the line in and that's brilliant ! The D3 only has the mic input Should I expect similar results with the D3 compared to my D6C ? After using the D6C to record the playback on the D3 is excellent
Doh just read about recording onto metal tapes LOL So I need to buy some chrome tapes for this walkman
