    Greetings,

I just got hold of a mint condition D6C with a speed problem, playing too fast. Otherwise it looks like it works fine. I now replaced the CX20084 chip with a new one. Playback speed now seems correct, however the motor starts directly when connecting power before pressing play, the chip also gets very hot so I only tried it for a couple of seconds. Speed is not stable. I have removed and resoldered the chip an extra time to make sure there were no bridges or bad connections. Anyone have any ideas what to look for now?

Btw, anyone with experience in this forum that would like to take on the task to fix it, preferable in Europe let me know.

    Hi and welcome to Stereo2go.
This seems to be a bit of an unusual fault. Normally with a fake CX20084 the motor runs as soon as the power is connected, but it runs fast. Often the current drawn is high as well.
This is not something which I can diagnose over the internet. I would need to check it on the bench.
In the meantime I would not try running it again as you may do further damage to the chip or surrounding components.

Thanks Valentin and Deb64 for your replies. It looks like I got fake chips and that is the cause of the issues. I have ordered a hopefully genuin one and will try with that but it looks like delivery will take some time. I will update this thread with the result. Naturally there can be something more broken than this chip, I'll investigate that meanwhile.
