I have recently bought a Sony -WM-EX688 which is boxed and in excellent condition with all accessories except charger (I have spares anyway ). It was said to be working but sold without and guarantee as it had not been testes fully .I took a punt and I won the auction paying £50 PLUS £6 P&P.

As I thought when I tried to play a cassette the red light came on but when pressing the play button there was just a whirring sound for a few seconds and nothing more . if any one knows/ has experience with this model , is it capable of (worth) repair ? any helpful comments appreciated

Thanks for letting me know I am not up to the task so I will see if any one wants to take this on or else I could use the accessories with another one I have which is working but lacks the remote .Thanks for replying though

It could just be a belt that needs changing. I know these logic controlled units sometimes rely on belt tightnes to trigger their modes correctly. Might be worth a look. Look for slackness.
