I'm curious if anyone else has swapped any lids of Discmans before.

My girlfriend is from Kazakhstan and their flag is a sky blue field with a yellow sun in the middle. I was thinking it might be fun to give her a D-E330 with a blue body and a yellow lid (I would, of course, keep the yellow body and the blue lid, in case I ever wanted to return them to original configuration).

From photos I've seen of the D-E330, it appears that the lid has no controls, display or anything else; it's just a flap over the disc, attached with a hinge and assisted by a spring. But of course that doesn't mean that it would be a straightforward job to remove and replace it.

Has anyone ever tried to replace the lid on a D-E330 (or D-E220, whose case appears to be identical)?
    Thanks!

being born in Kazakhstan, and these also being the colors of my native Ukraine - myguess I MUST help

Switching lids is very easy but if you are afraid to break anything then leave them alone, brute force is needed to separate lid from the case . Otherwise it is a 5-min job.

Two screws from the bottom and three from top, marked by arrows. Ph0 screwdriver is needed:

now shell is held together by plastic clips, use old Credit Card to separate:

now use small flat screwdriver to separate lid from the case. This is the step where brute but controlled force is needed:

One last tip - when snapping everything back together, keep the lid open, otherwise pop-up spring won't get engaged

    Good Luck!

Whoa! That's so cool that you were born in Kazakhstan, Jorge, and that you're Ukrainian!
When I was in Almaty a few months ago I saw lots of UA flags, stickers, etc. My girlfriend is very pro-UA (as am I).
And thank you so much for the tutorial on swapping lids! With that info, I think I can handle this job. I'll post pics here after I get the two donors and perform the surgery.
    Slava Ukraini, and Alga Qazaqstan!
