finally - with Jorge's help - i received today one of my personal "holy grails":

    a silver Panasonic RQ-J9

now i have a good reason to search my boxes for my black one, to display them together :)

Just earlier this week I got a a black one. It was love at first sight. In fact, I wasn't quite aware of this series before seeing it. The red, yellow and orange accents on the black body gives it a very unique and dashing look!

It's rather interesting, though, to see them labeling the silver one Stereo-to-Go and the rest Way.

It looks a boatload better than the Panasonic notetaker my parents bought me in the day.

So there's a black box model as well? Must be for recording "on-the-fly"!

...there's no "recording" function, the mic is like "talk-line" on other units that era.

Oh! I didn't know there was 2 versions of the black one. Interesting... Mine's got the Stereo Way branding.

The mic/talk-line is quite interesting on these, as they pause the transport as well.

Now that you mentioned it, I think this thing's gonna look very nice in traffic orange with black accents!

I'll be looking forward to finding the red & blue version. That deep blue one must be way cool as well!

Finding this black one and reading this thread prompted me to look for a pic of the colored ones, as the ads are quite lackluster.

I feel like that shade of blue is just the most perfect blue I've ever seen in a walkman. Look like it's a glossy finish, though. Kinda a shame, I think, as I much prefer the smooth satin finish of the black and silver ones.

Great thread AO, I think I missed it the first time around.

That black unit really pops, I remember when everyone was decaling their cars with the same strips down the side, even the A-Team was doing it, yep yellow, orange, red was really big back then...
