thought you might want to see my current rig i use when travelling!

Airport security personnel always seem to enjoy seeing something out of the ordinary ;-)

Yes I know what you mean, my D6C or DC2 always turns heads at the X-Ray machine. One of the security guys tried to buy my DC2 off me once, I said no but he should look on eBay to try and find one.

Hey Craig. Did you make custom insert for this case or buy it ready made?
    Cheers

Silerera Pelican cases come with the foam inserts, which you can cut out, to the shape you need.

Had no idea this would be so easy to do with the grid pattern foam insert. Thanks for the idea CC.... 20190430_143541.jpg

Hi. Not sure of exact dimensions. I'm away at present but I know it's the smallest case. I think it's HDM brand. It comes with a pressure equalizing valve too which is great if you ever put it in as checked baggage. It takes two padlocks as well. So once you've landed and collected it you release any pressure before trying to open it. I've since modified it and added a spot for my headphone amp as well.

Pressure valves were fitted to many sports walkmans also, but they did damage the tapes and mechanisms inside because they didn’t get used correctly. People just left the plastic plug in, when really you should allow pressure to equalise to avoid damaging anything. Peli cases are proven not to fail obviously but Sony did make an error in design there

Thanks for your reply Silverera. The pressure valve must be useful if you are a frequent traveller

Could be but I would fight to keep the Walkman as carry on luggage. Sometimes you get an over enthusiastic airline official wanting to sting you excess baggage on a cheap flight though. You see them coming down the queue with their scales weighing everyone's luggage. Always annoys when you see some guy up ahead who must weigh over 200 pounds but it's you they take exception to with your 3 pounds over the carry on limit. Ugh.

I have never had anyone try to tell me my D6C is excess baggage, it is usually around my shoulder if i am using it.

The DC2 is one Walkman I don't have. How does it compare with the D6C for playback?. I recently acquired a D3 but must say it doesn't really compare well with the D6 or D6C in playback.

The DC2 is a very good player, not quite up to the standards of the D6C. The DC2 does not have the gravitas of the D6C, but it's the closest to the D6C with regards to Sony portables I have.

For me personally the D3 is just a complete waste of time, they try to scale down the D6C and did a very bad job.

Thanks for your response. Agree with the D3 sentiment. Really a DDII with record. I will definitely chase that DC2.
I have 2 D6C's and a D6. The D6 is a superb playback machine but they are troublesome with speed IC issues. Mine we cheap and I had it restored. Way better than my D3 too.
    Cheers
