Mister X loves mini's and finding this little gem was a highlight in my quest for cool audio players. For some reason I'm drawn to these tiny versions of audio players. Maybe growing up in Michigan, the state where muscle cars were born, and being a rebel made me look to the alternatives. Sure I love big Camaros, Firebirds, Plymouths and the other big cars but I had a bigger attraction to the small, funky, one-of-a kind foreign imports coming from BMW, Fiat, Triumph, MG, and the ton of little Japanese Cars. The JVC MR-200 is the same, sure it's small in a world where boomboxes were really starting to get notice and were getting huge. This guy didn't need to be stereo for the marketing department, it wholly embraces it's mono-nimity. Power comes through on battery, 6 volt adaptor, or car battery adapter at an awesome 450 mW! The antenna is really cool, it collapses back into the body of the player with just the knob showing. There's a little cross-hatched panel by the counter markings, anybody know what this panel is? To be honest, it didn't come up on my radar until I posted the advertisement below and karma hit and now there's one sitting on my desk. The ad also has the JVC Twinch next to it. I thought I had scored last week and found the companion locally but it's a JVC 3050 Micro TV. Same 1978 vintage but not the same model. I'm still working on my Zealous to composite to HDMI to computer to get a picture but that's around the corner so for now there's a little static. The 3050's FM Tuner is outstanding, I can't help but listen to it, even in mono it sounds great and I'm pretty sure nobody has ever been inside this guy. I don't usually leave the radio on my boxes but it really is hard to turn off, just a nice natural sound.
One of our awesome members Sebastian Sekinger posted the complete JVC Brochure here. Hope this is OK to post, I'll buy you what-ever six-pack you want if your ever in Minneapolis.... http://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/another-jvc-radio-cassette-brochure.810/
I pulled my ad from the brochure section, this was my motivation... I just have to find the little TV companion.
Hi, I just got this model yesterday, here in Buenos Aires, Argentina! It is in excellent condition, but the antenna is missing. Could please tell me the lenght of the antenna fully extended and closed? I´ll try get a similar one to fix it. https://www.facebook.com/matias.art...04540/10216292946452215/?type=3&theater&ifg=1 Thanks!
These guys say they have it in stock, I've never used this company but they seem to have a lot of vintage electronic parts. https://encompass.com/model/JVCMR200
one of our expert members recommended to buy some Sony lever assembly from these guys before they ran out. I did it right away, ordered 6 of them. Then I received an email that the item is not available since Sony no longer supply them with that specific part.
