I`m looking for this manual.( In the service manual aren`t information ). I want to use the Boombox as Station for extern source, but it seems to be a curious way to push pause and record buttons to get a sound over DIN - Input. And you need a cassette inside, because record button doesn`t hold position without one. Can somebody help ?
This is pretty normal for boomboxes with DIN inputs. The DIN input is there for recording, so record mode must be engaged to use it. If the box has a phono input, you can connect your device via a phono attenuator and use the box as an amplifier.
Thank you very much, i didn`t know, that the DIN Input only is for recording. And there`s another thing - if you choose manual record level, you can see the fitting LED level, according to position of the level button, but the volume in every position is full ( like automatic level ). That`s confusing.
Yup, the record level switches have no effect on the output volume of the box. The switch only influences the signal level to the recorder-head and level meter and not the signal to the boombox amplifier. It a bit confusing indeed. I don't know about the RC-656L. But with a lot of boxes you can make the DIN input active by pushing only the record button and not play. This way the motor remains quiet and it saves a lot of wear and tear.
You must laugh, but there`s another curiosum - the record function works without "Play" , only push "Record" and the record starts. That`s why pushing "Pause" during hearing sound from DIN. By the way - the phono - Input could be also a DIN, but with only 3 holes, right ? Mine seems to be have the option for use as source for an extern amplifier - it has 5 holes. I must try.
Yes its depends on the boombox if its possible to put it in record mode by pushing only the rec button. Certain times the “one button record” feature was even a selling point. Other situation were it doesn’t work is when the on/off switch is internally connected to the play button and the box doesn’t have a dedicated on/off switch. The DIN plug has two channels for record, two channels for playback and one earth. So it is very unlikely the cassette DIN jack is also used for a turntable. Most boxes I have use RCA for connecting a turntable. If you want to have JVC boomboxes without DIN, you should look at the JW, W or C versions. They are more difficult to find in Europe tho. The European L or LB version is more common in Europe and has DIN in most cases.
For the price, i was able to find one of these JVC i didn`t think about DIN or RCA ;-). By the way, i also looked at google for a "instruction manual", and google gave me this https://www.stereo2go.com/topic/ind...92314111653369&content_oid=356236218512619573 but when i look for a manual here - then i get "no items found" . I now have downloaded each single side - so all is fine. Thanx anyway
