I was really young and my neighbors mom dropped us off for a James Bond Double Feature, Live and Let Die and The Man With the Golden Gun. Oh man we were hooked, so many gadgets and a guy that did stuff with women we didn't know was possible (yep we were really young).

I was reading through this review while looking for boombox ads, this guy doesn't seem to like the movie at all. Unfortunately I love everything he hated, Jane Seymour was great and one of the few "Bond Girls" that actually did something after the movie. No gadgets? The darts in the car mirrors was awesome! and the magnetic watch was huge! I've said this before, we were primed for gadgets in the 70's, one of there reasons Walkmans and cool boomboxes took off, we love the stuff!

I love Shirley Bassey and she had a great voice, but Live And Let Die by McCartney took soundtrack music to a new level and for a few years soundtracks ruled the charts. Not only that but even today, close to 50 years later you can still hear this song played at least once a week on radio and it still sounds great and fresh.

The review starts by comparing Live and Let Die to the Sean Connery films and makes it clear they aren't a Roger Moore fan. While they are different I think both are equally good although Roger Moore added a lot more humour.

I prefer either to the modern Bond films. I started watching one of those (Casino Royale?) on TV and switched off after about ten minutes.

I must admit, I am a big Bond fan and have all the films on DVD.
One thing I can agree with the author of the article on is the Roger Moore Bond films are just plain cheesy, Roger Moore just comes across as sleazy.

Roger Moore was great for a young kid, Connery might have been too dry back then but after seeing all of them, I'm with Longman. I think my first Connery Film was either Thunderball or Goldfinger on ABC Sunday Night at the Movies in the later 70's. I do like the other guys but some of the stories could be a lot better. Moore was way too old in the 80's and it looked like they were going to quit with him, luckily they made more but they don't have the repeat watchability of the early movies.

I never realized how many spy movies were made, it must have been a huge trend, here's just one playlist on YouTube, some of these are pretty good, some are crappy copies with blurred images.
