It is EX405. The FX405 has mechanical buttons. I did not know that Sony made full logic players using cheap all-plastic platform. It looks almost like a proper hi-end player.
I have two different ones using that toaster shape mechanism and have seen others http://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/sony-wm-fx479-rebelting.1766/ This is like the other I have https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265184189843?epid=59626926&hash=item3dbe359d93:g:zQMAAOSwy29guPi2 No Dolby on that one which is a shame. They are rather plasticy, and as mentioned in the other thread were less than £50 new. By 2001 the full logic WM-EX-404 with Dolby was down to £30 http://stereo2go.com/forums/threads/the-dd9-sucks-and-is-more-expensive-dc2.5757/page-2#post-53755
I'm guessing that by frame you mean the chassis of the deck which is sheet metal. The entire case is plastic.
Right, chassis. The prior generation had the mechanism attached directly to the circuit board, which served as chassis. The benefit is that once you open it up, the belt is right there. The ones you linked to are different: a metal chassis with thinner circuit board above it. I new about the ones with metal chassis having full-logic control, to me this indicated the quality of the mechanism. So, the EX405 surprised me. Although I cannot find the image that hinted that it did not have metal chassis. Maybe I am wrong about it, maybe it is the last generation like the other ones.
