    Hello all,

I have a WM-EX677 that is in good working order except for the fact that the volume potentiometer is broken. It's scratchy and only plays out of both L/R channels in very specific positions. I've tried applying a bunch of DeoxIt but I think it's beyond repair.

Does anybody know if it's possible to obtain replacement potentiometers online? Ideally I'd be able to just replace the potentiometer without having to buy an entirely new parts unit.

    Thanks in advance

I just bought a WM-EX670 in immaculate condition with exactly the same fault you describe. I haven't removed the circuit board yet to inspect the potentiometer but given that it has lateral movement I think either the solder joints are damaged or more likely the body of the pot is coming apart.
I don't expect to find the right part new, more likely have to repair or find one from a donor.
Having said that Alps Alpine do a small range of surface mount stereo volume pots. Google RK10J11R0A0H. No idea if any of them are suitable.

do you have a picture of EX677 potentiometer? My EX677 works fine and never opened it. most probably you need to find another walkman sold for parts and use the potentiometer.
Look at this link provided by @Ken80s

I got some for the future since I have a significant collection of compatible walkman that might need someday. I don't think this one will work with EX series.

The volume pot in my EX670 was so bad, scratchy, would jump to full volume frequently, I was totally convinced it was broken. Regardless, I tried exercising it constantly for about 5 minutes and was very surprised to find it worked perfectly afterwards. This, without using any cleaning fluid.
