Rather than get any more Boomboxes I decided it was time I had an 8 track Boomsphere :wink2

I'm not sure if Weltron was sold in the U.K. but Dixon's one of the U.K.s largest camera and electronics stores sold an AKA using their Prinzsound label.
After a couple of disappointing Ebay purchases I am really pleased with this one, and I haven't even tested it yet. It was a bit difficult to determine the colour in the listing photos but it turns out it is bright yellow like my Sound Burger. It is quite difficult to photograph. What looks like dirt on the front is actually reflections on the gloss black surface.

With stereo, a tape player, battery compartment, and handle it actually comes close to the definition of a boombox except it most definitely isn't a a box. You would also need strong arms as it weighs 6.5Kg without batteries. However, it has a smooth swivel base to spin it.

The Wikipedia article on Weltron says this was their first model and that it cost over $1000 adjusted for inflation. Thinking about the Weltron 2001 name I can just imagine Dr. David Bowman listening to one of these after a hard days work on the Space Station.
