Just wondering why this is the case, never thought about it until yesterday. I saw a Sony cassette boombox (taken aback when I saw it) for £50 or so and a Bush personal stereo and while I don't trust the quality of these products for many reasons it sparked the titular thought in my head. Is there some sort of licensing involved in using Dolby NR that these companies don't want to pay for? It's my limited understanding that it's really only analog music that needs this kind of noise reduction but I am curious. Thanks!
Ah never mind just saw this thread on Tapeheads: http://www.tapeheads.net/showthread.php?t=62155 So 2014 was the last year that they made decks implementing Dolby NR.
