So I've found this WM F15 from a ValueVillage. Other than missing the battery cover and slightly worn, it was in a great shape and it's got awesome sounds coming from its radio. However, the belt was completely melted while the motor is making sounds and I cleaned it up and replaced it with a replacement belt. In the process, I may have tucked the white and red wires near the LED on the top side PCB (the one that pulls off) and I reconnected them with the equipments I have (Soldering iron without temperature control as it was the only thing I can access). I reassembled it and the cassette player still wont run and this time the motor wouldnt even try to turn. I checked the wiring connections and cleaned up the copper play-reverse-forward connection switch the best I could. Is there any other possibilities of what may have gone wrong in there that I can try to troubleshoot? I can get access to a voltmeter.
If the motor was working before the repair, and not after, chances are good that you reconnected some broken wires to wrong place, or you bridged something when reconnecting the wires. Did you get it fixed? I think before you install the new belts you should check that the pullies turn when you hit the "play" button. If you can, attach wires (micro alligator clips?) on the motor terminals to check if it was getting power when you hit the "play" button?
