    Hi,
just a quick question which I am not able to find on google. There are some notches on top of a cassette - clear and I know which type they imply. But I forgot, have absolutely no idea and cannot find anything about which copy protect tab is for which side?

When side A lays in front of you like the picture below, which tab is required to write protect side A - the left or the right tab?

    Thank you, Daniela

for side A the tab next to TDK sign is the correct one.
If you place the cassette in the recorder facing A side, you will see the recorder lever touches that part

I think you have it backwards Daniela, with a tab you can record, without a tab you can't.

Thank you. That was clear, just which one is responsible for which side - just forgot. Was not using tapes for a long time...

btw. those TDKs have small reusable plastic tabs  Sad that it is not possible to buy them anymore

Those tabs were never sold separately anyway, they came with those cassettes. There are many cassettes that came with removeable tabs. The ones I have are, TDK MA-XG first gen and the second gen like you have there. TDK MA-R, Sony Metal Master, Sony Super Metal Master. You can see some of them in my pic below, ignore the Maxell Vertex in the pic you can’t re-use the tab in that one. Most of those cassettes, you just turn the tabs sideways except the Sony Metal Master which you have to turn the tabs upside down.
