Well here we go with the second arrival of 2017 (First one an 8080 arrived dead more on that soon) I paid a full £25.86 for this stereo & couldn't decide whether to buy it as I don't usually go for 3 piecers as some of you know............. The name Uher has always been known to me, mainly for decent Hi-Fi separates in the 1980's especially cassette decks!! I think this is likely 'Generic' although I could be wrong........Looks mid 80's to me & that's why I dawdled over whether or not to bother with it The era of shite so called 'Compo's' often turning out to be shit! Not this one however - Dolby, manual level controls with Led meters, bass & treble, line in/phono & soft touch cassette deck which needs repair! Motor runs so I anticipate an easy repair Needs a really good clean but nothing else wrong & no bits missing either which is a bloody miracle as it arrived badly packed as images show what a relief, hope my luck holds up - it has done so far............ How does she sound?? Judge for yourselves - Put it this way: I had a big smile all morning pumping out dozens of tunes from my S7 & it sounds marvellous!! Stereo separation is very good & the tweeters deliver a sweet treble, something else I never expected Time to meet the Uher Power Port 2 Stereo Hope there are not too many pictures
Wow, never seen that Power Port before - this UHER buddy looks great & mint!! Thanks for sharing. Ah yeah, may I share your such a nice quality pics with my hobby pals? This beast definitely is a rare bird here, my buddies must be interested. A teaser.
Looks a bit basic lad but it has everything a box should have, dolby led's and tweeters, the speakers only look 4 inch but as stated in another thread some 4 inch drivers are better than much bigger ones, congrats on another fine pick up lad, leave some for me haha, naa i have just bought another panasonic cw 200 so im happy but they aint cheap, mind you i made an offer on this one and the seller knocked off £100 so can't be bad ehh
Looks good Nick, lots of box for the money and sounds good to. I really like your threads, plenty of nice pics and always something off brand and unusual. Love it, great score
Update!! Well took it all apart today - new belts as all had turned into goo Took bloody ages to clean it all up!! While I dealt with all the dirty switches, Big Tits was busy removing all the gunk from the flywheel & motor spindle!! Then it was time to work out the 3 belt arrangement as I have not seen this deck before..........It is no picnic & a real balancing act to get all 3 belts (2 on the motor spindle 1 from flywheel to autostop mech) Anyway, the deck is back together, the soft eject pole relocated as it had come out of it's hydraulic sleeve, door refitted (a real sod to do) now eject works lovely! Deck back in chassis, just awaiting a multitude of connectors ALL pluggable! Thanks Uher - quality but complex machine & I think it's gonna be worth it if it all goes well Will update very soon once back together........hands still all bloody tacky & gooey, bloody old belts! lol Added & rare bonus of big tits in a rather nice leather mini
Yay!! Don't you just love it when everything works first time! So glad I took pictures - there are so many connectors & I mean loads This Uher has a really good tape deck, the build quality is very high! Soft touch controls, very very quiet mechanism & extremely stable!! I love it! Only thing I am thinking about is upgrading the speaker drive units - Got a brand new pair of Panasonic 4" drive units, with tweeter in centre - it sounds good now but headphones reveal that both cassette/radio & line are very good indeed Will ponder this over next couple of days, it's an easy job & if no improvement then change back - no probs!! Can't believe how good this cassette deck is!
Great work Nick, yet another box saved, id sugest changing the speakers tho lad as she sounds a bit tinny from my end, i do like those white led's tho quite unusual my man
