Is Ear guard a volume limiting system?

i have one of those. came from ebay about 1 years ago. i got a small remote with it also. the person gave me the lead-acid battery. the only drawback is not being able to use a fresh gumstick. it is dated jan.03. he said he forgot to charge it for a long time and that put and end to it. it's a fine player with a clean sound. it has a sturdy sidecar which uses 2aaa batteries.
