The most rare featherweight Sony headphone!

dbxs - 2015-05-18 17:57

in  1978, Sony came out with 2 open air headphones.  They would later call the series the H-air!

The Sony MDR-3 would accompany the First Walkman, and The MDR-5 is now also fameous!

As more products were made, the line grew to 5!    MDR-1,MDR-2,MDR-3,MDR-4, and MDR-5!  The Sony MDR-2 is the most rare of all!

This headphone was attached to no Walkman products!  The closes it came was the SRF-80 my stereo!  A black pair of MDR-2 headphones were included inside the set.

The silver pair was sold for use with Sony T.V. sets.  Some of these headphones actually had some in line control buttons for use with the T.V. Most of the remaining pairs of Sony MDR-2 are long gone now and it is one of the most rare Headphone set!  It is hard to even locate a picture of them!

MDR-2's were designed to be used with TV monitoring.

Both versions can be seen at the foot of this ad.

Thes ecost 3,500 Yen in 81/82 and despite their 'open' boast they had a pretty ordinary dynamic range of 30-20,000Hz.

Quite rare and early
