Which Dioxit to use?

rom.selecta - 2009-07-15 06:06

I know this topic has been discussed at length it other posts, but I can only find DeoxIt D100L (DeoxIt power booster), F5MS, DN5MS, D5 & GOLD G5 here in Japan.

Which of these do I need to clean and lubricate? GOLD G5 is a combo spray, right? Is it better to use 2 separate products for this job?

Thank in advance...

Rom i say dont use combo sprays because each componant of the spray is used for different purpous,i use servisol, check this..

So Deoxit Gold is the final word? It just had to be the most expensive one Roll Eyes 3,580 yen ouch

yeah but you get what you pay for. you just need small sprays on the pots or sliders. not a whole lot

take the casing off, remove the knobs, and slightly brush excess dust and dirt of and have the bristles covered in deoxit, then lightly mist the pots with deoxit, this will 9 times out of 10 do the trick! and give you a chance to clean the internals and do some preventative maintenance like lubing the belts, dusting contact points, and making sure all electrical connections are tight and not loose, it may not be fun but you will be in sync with your box, and know more about what you have. Smile Good luck, TRC911

What is recommended for belt lube?

superduper - 2009-07-16 10:41

Clean with isopropyl alcohol -- leave it naked. If they are slipping, you need new belts. Some friction enhancers which are rosin based helps and can extend the life of the belts somewhat but belts are cheap and if you disassemble the box to the point where the belts are accessible -- just change them and be done with it.

Has anyone ever tried silicone spray? I use it to rejuvenate rubber and plastic on my motorbikes and it seems to work well.

That is some insane overhauling... When I have decided on which box is my fave, I think I will most like go to this extreme too Nod Yes

I don't know, rubber belts sort of operates on the principle of friction. Lubing them with lubricant seems sort of contraindicative to me. For my money, my time is worth way more than the few measly dollars I'll save by refreshing the belts so they'll last a few more months.
