Hello guys !

I bought a LUCKY 931, perfect clone (aka?) of the Lasonic. This one has to be detailed in a next post.

The function switch (to select between line-in - radio - tape) is broken so I'm stuck in radio mode.

I removed the rear panel and can't access the back of switches because there is a board and a lot of cables over it..
Do I have to remove and unweld it ? Or may I service the switches from the front panel of the box ?

Any manual or technical howto are welcome

But the worst problem was the third potentiometer on the right (function selector). I guess I have to go from the back ?

welcome to the switch that's a b*tch . On lasonics as well. many threads wanting replacements for it, seem hard to come by. You might get lucky and find the parts inside and be able to glue it up for careful operation.

I would shine a light into the hole out front and see whats there, could be a broken plastic shaft or maybe nothing... Open the back and locate the switch, it is a long metal thing with a plastic set of gears inside, hopefully in one piece if your lucky.

depending on what condition that switch in you might be able to hobble together. on my 931 the switch was trashed but i was able to push it into place so that it was always on inline cause that's what i use most often.

find what your working with and maybe i can suggest something else. love to see pics of the lucky too..

That part seems to be strange as you describe (gears?), I though it was a classic potentiometer.

That dawn selector rotates endless, I hope it is fixable.

Update:
A plastic cog in the rotary slide switch is broken as you can see in the following pictures.

I contacted Lasonic to see if they can help because Misaki has phased out that kind of switches (read that on S2G).

I'm not sure if the switch is serviceable. There are little bent teeth that maintain the steel "cover". May I open it carefully to try to glue the cog broken parts ?

i know replacement switches are almost impossible to find (i need 2 myself) plus replacing it on the board seems a *****. I saw people saying it was easier to just replace the board for one with a good switch.

i did see somewhere someone mentioned actually gluing their broken cog back together, but you need all the pieces to do it. If i were you I would probably try as it is broken anyway...
my pieces actually were not all there so i couldn't try.

I have never dismantled the switch but it must be possible...and being careful you can probably do it

so unless you find a replacement switch/board, i would try to glue it up.

if that doesn't work i would try to position it by trial and error on whatever function you use most so you can at least use it. this involves pushing up the switch inside from the opposite side from the cog, checking what function it is on and pushing either forward or backward until you get it on the function you want.

As you said I think I have better chances to try to glue it. But don't know yet if all parts are here.

The worst is that all functions works. I pushed the switch forward and could enable the tape.
Those misaki engineers were really dumb to design such piece of crap.

What about aluminium CNC or stereolithography ? It should not be difficult to draw the cog on a CAD software but have no idea how much.

Maybe if there are interested people on S2G we can lower the cost ? Just thinking.

Promise I'll put back the cover and take a pic.. but that hurts me she's not fully functional because of a little plastic cog..

it is the weakest link for sure on that box...that would be cool to make one, maybe i will dissemble mine and look at if possible to copy, i do have 2 that actually do function... there must be some switch out there that could be modded...it is really frustrating that it is the only thing screwed up on my box too!
if i figure something out i will let you know, you do the same

WHOAH!!!! Sorry to bring back an old post but a Lucky 931? I have never heard of or seen one! Can we get some pics?

blah blah blah: I had a first contact with a sort of engineer. He would be able to make a copy of the cog in resin. I still have to open the switch to extract the broken parts of the cog to give it to him.

I keep the board updated

resin probably would work if very hard. i haven't pulled my switch out yet. let me know how it goes
