I'm taking a guess which seems to make sense. I have 2 tv/radio units. A 1985 Emerson xlc 450 I snagged from the good will a wihle back, and then a sony mega watchment. Both have the same issue with not being able to drive a tape at play. I can fast forward and reverse with teh sony, but the emerson seems to do nothing. I'm betting the belts are worn? If so, wheres a good place state side to get belts?

Check your local electronics shops, not the Source, smaller independent shops that sell capacitors, power supplies, etc. Call around first, you will find one. You can buy belts at many sites on the net but nothing beats having the old in your hands to match them up.
