Strange vibrations in cassette deck

dj.defo - 2010-03-15 14:26

Hello, i'm a newbie here and i have an irradio cobrasound 4414, an italian under licence remake of a mcdonald model wich i can't identify.
i've had it for about seven months 'till now, and lately it has started making a strange noise if hit while playing a cassette, even tapping on it slightly is effective. I've opened it, and noticed that capstans are covered by oxide. as soon i've cleaned them i tried putting a cassette in but problem remains, i think it's a matter of some loose part vibrating or even the motor itself... please help, i want to get back in the streets jamming with my mixtapes...

here some pics Wink

Wow. Confused It almost sounds like some sort of ground issue. Loose wire? Bad solder joint? Confused

NIce box, looks like a Panasonic Rx-5500 alias. Could be a wire or cable tie rubbing on the flywheel, could be a stuck tape counter sometimes they can click click click.

@fatdog: it's a mere vinration going on, that sound ain't coming from the speakers...

@2steppa: great idea, i dind't think nothing almost near to that... i'll check accurately... Smile

Could be a worn out/ dry bushing. Possibly in motor or capstan.

Sounds like it needs controls and switches cleaned.

Dont forget the record/playback switch
usually on the main board with a leaver to the cassette.
