This is not a question,just a heads up on a problem i found on my GF9000..
I switched it on earlier,as it came on,for no reason it made a "pap" noise out of the speakers,then the power light went off,the cassette still worked but there was no power light and no sound (just hiss) i found it to be a resistor on the amp board,i think it was R513..so if you get a problem like this its worth a check,i've no idea why it went but its all up and running again..just thought i would let you know..

yeah i learned on my own,started fixing them when i was a kid,had to in them days because i could'nt afford to get things fixed in the repair shops,so D.I.Y was the only way..and i have to now because theres not many repair shops left,and when you do find one they usually wont look at them because of the age and parts not being available anymore..its a shame..

hi dave,i have 2 GF9000 now,all that time i was slating the 9000 and putting it down,its nothing to do with the amp,its only the origonal cream coloured sharp speakers that is making them sound poor and bass lack..one of my 9000 had a o/c (open circuit/basically dead) bass,so i changed them for a set of the same 8" full range 4ohm bass (not sharp),the sound is amaizing,i have the 2 GF9000s together,the one with the origonal sharp bass sounds awfull,but the other with replacement bass sounds great,good bass,pleasing sound,i think the sharp you have may be a 9000Z with black bass..better quality..i love these things now,i was playing it all yesterday..i am a 9000 fan
