Friends,
How can I make non-amplified speakers with only speaker wire, work with the external speaker jacks on my Pioneer SK-31? I haven't ever seen speaker wire to mini plugs. Can they be bought/made? Thanks.
I don't think that will work anyway... I doubt the external speaker output is amplified. It is probably just a line-level out (May be fixed or variable, I don't know)
But if the two External Speaker ports/jacks on the Pioneer SK-31 look like little 1/8 mini ports, doesn't that mean that whatever is plugged into them should play? Or do the speakers themselves need to be powered? Thanks.
Greg. Your SK-31 DOES have speaker output jacks using mini-1/8" jacks. Use 4 ohm speakers if possible. If using 8 ohms speakers, you will notice lower volume which is normal since 8 ohm speakers have greater resistance. You should be able to find an adapter-cable solution through your local electronics store or Radio Shack. Just tell them what you are trying to do and they should be able to recommend something.
Norman,
Thanks for the good information. I'm nearly blind and you are leading me. Good night.
Norman,
Do you have the Pioneer SK-31 Service Manual? If you don't, let me know and I'll send it to you. I accidentally bought it thinking that it was the Owners Manual.
