Yeah, so... are your GF 555 or 767/777, 7500, 9595, 9696, and others that have the same system, cassette doors opening to fast?

They then have this:

that is a simple mech that has a type of translusid grease which will evaporate with time in some cases...

It looks like this inside;

So you can see that there is an area where this grease goes (where the smaller of the discs is), and this grease slows down the wheel thus the door...

Take that part of the door... take your time spliting it open (once opened, sand or file down the tits and slightly the main surface... That is better when putting back together, and the ruggedness makes it more air tight).

Now, yours probably has no more of that grease, that is why the doors are opening so quickly... If you have a good grease to replace the original, go for it but note... It has to be QUITE thick!!!

After having tryied a good few greases, I found that the best and thickest substance for this is not grease but epoxy glue!!! NOT BOTH COMPOUNDS, for that will harden and you have screwed you little door slower upper

Take just one of the compounds (I am just showing two different brands so you can see that you can use any):



Take the clearer compound, put into the mech:




Pinch it tight, screw it back into place and try it out!

You sould be happy!!!!

But Araldite is a glue which, when you mix the two parts together, is as strong as cement.
