I have a discolite which powers up & the small disco lights work, but I cannot get any sound or lights working on the 4 speakers.
Can anybody help me with getting these to work as I would love to get this unit up & running properly.
Any info or pictures of the internal wiring would grealy be appreciated.
Cheers
ps. the two back panels are missing also & it seems that is where the bulbs go. Has anyone any pictures so I can rewire this particular section ?
Thanks..
do you have the bulbs that are wired and go into the 4 holes??
no, they were missing and the wires also when i obtained it.
hmmm so the end of the wires are now inside the box it seems. I heard that these units are pretty complicated on the inside. the leads should be easly replaced if you have the lead wires from the back on the machine.
found a crappy pic on my drive, i guess they have been unplugged from the back of the unit.
have you any pictures or info on the size or type of replacement bulb ?
Also, does the actual light bulb go into the back of the speaker (where the hole is) or does it sit just outside it ?
no idea what size the bulb is but they go right through into the speaker. i think its like a 7 mm white led. when i find out ill let you know. but there is like a place ment holder that holds in and you twist it and lock it into place in the back.
Still having no luck getting any sound.
Possibly bad capacitor or preamp ????
Where should I be looking to find & test these ?? Are they on the main power board ??
no idea, never cracked one open. check the forums for past posts. i think some one several months ago was also have problems with his. you may find some info there. as i remember, they said that disco lites are tricky on the inside
i have just replaced the power switch & still no sound from the radio or tape (although I can hear a faint hiss only).
I have touched the two preamp ic's (part no. LA3600) & they hum when touched .. Is this normal or are they faulty ?
Maybe a bad capacitor I should be looking for but visually all looks ok. Can anyone please help ?
Still no luck.
What could be the fault with no radio or tape sound coming through the speakers ???
capacitor ? Transistor ?? ic's ??
PLEASE HELP >>>
it could all be located in the volume switch, if its screwed up?
Have you tested the speakers with a different audio source? If so and they work, spray some deoxit into the record mechanism and cycle it several times by hand ..have seen these types of problems before, and the record slider was the culprit. As to your bulb problem, sorry no info for you..
The speakers work when hooked up to another stereo.
I have sprayed some Deoxit on the record slider as suggested, but still hasn't fixed the "no sound" problem.
Any other suggestions please ???
Just checked the 4 diodes on the power board and they seem to be ok.
i'll keep searching for the fault.....
I just dropped mine off to the repair guy. I will keep you posted. Mine does have the bulb requirements on the cover but cannot recall it now. PM me if you want. Will let you know when I get it back.
Please keep me posted on your progress. I plan to have the repair guy give me a detailed description of his fixes and am more than happy to pass them on. Love the box.
Thanks for your post. Hope you get yours working (looking forward to hearing what the problem is). I'm still getting no music (from radio or tape) through the speakers , only hissing.
Once I get the sound issue fixed, then I will try to get the speaker lights workings also.
Once again , thanks (please keep me posted).
Anything from headphones ?
Ideally you need to injecting an audio signal and move backwards from the speakers.
Get a multimeter out and test for continuity from the speakers all the way back to the amp and look for points where you can inject the audio ie: from the audio inputs on the tuner board or the cassette decks.
When the volume is on full can you hear anything feintly ? Check all sources, tape, line in, aux, radio. Make sure the blanace slider is central and then do the same checks with it on one side or the other to try and establish if the balance has any effect.
Does anyone know a good repairer in Melbourne, Australia ?
