I got this new sony cfs 500 from my local swapmeet everything is in good shape the only thing worng with it is the tape player it eats tape does anyone know why and how to fix it any tips and is it ez working on a sony boombox and i got a sanyo that need some work it has litte cracks and scratchs and faded chrome and tips on how to fix that

Best guess is the Sony needs a new belt. It's easy to work on, very simple deck.
Cosmetic stuff is not my forte however.

I have 3 of these and really do enjoy them very much. Not the loudest but easy to handle and made well. Never got into looking at the belts on mine. The 2 play fine and the other 1 kind of is dead most of the time, meaning that its pretty slow to rewind and fast forward. Nice pickup!!!!

on my sanyo that i fixed and cleaned up , i could not get off this yellow paint that was on there. so i took acrylic (it peels off) and splattered neon colours onto it and stuck old school stickers on it to cover up the scratches and stuff. it guess its artsy.

Check out the pinch roller first. may need a replacement or just a deep cleaning. Also the force applied on tape may not be strong enough.

Is the pinch roller moving? most times, the tape is turning, but the pinch roller isn`t. Check it out.
