Speaker edge tear, repairable?

thafuzz - 2009-02-23 14:30

Okay all, I could use some advise on salvaging my GF 8989 6" woofers. I cracked open the box and was cleaning it when I noticed a tiny tear on the edge on one of the woofer edges. The tear crosses the ribs. Any way to "seal" it safely?

I was thinking about that. But was wanting to see who tried it and had good results. My concern was of the glue vibrating loose since it's right on the surrounding ribs.

Would good ole rubber cement work? It's pretty flexable. Wink

fuzz i use white well even the wood glue remember the kids gluing those contruction paper how well it stuck to it,, i have a few speakers that i have used the white glue it is thin if you apply it right the rubber cement to me would be to heavy and the speaker is basicly paper the best way is to try it on a speaker that it not in the radio that way you can play with it and see how it works out Smile

Fuzz, def. go with the elmers. I've done hole repairs and then redyed the outside, they looked great and sounded like they never had anything done to them. Your speaker would tear before that glue ever came off.
