Hello everybody, here in Toronto Ontario Canada, Hydro prices are starting to rise. So I was wondering, does anyone know. What amount of power does a boombox use when the power is off? Is it so minute that I shouldn't worry, or does it depend on the model? I just need a "general" idea. If it's a significant amount, I can just leave my boomboxes unplugged. Thanks for any help
Shouldn't use any unless it's power dependent for a clock. And even then it's insignificant. Some boxes have their clocks run soley off of a battery.

OS is correct, old boomers don't have standy modes. I wouldn't worry about any drain from built in clocks since it's so insignificant.
A standby power consumption is allways there, then the AC powercord is conectet.
In nearly 100% of all BBX's the mains transformer works then the switch is off. An idling transformer needs about 2 to 5 Watts.

Cool, thanks for all the input everyone. So I guess with 20 boomboxes plugged in, at most it would be like a 100 watt lightbulb. So no worries
