Please help me. I need my CK-5F speakers refoamed. Anyone familiar with these knows they are the square type (more of a vertical rectangle) so no foam kits are available. Has anyone done these square types and are willing to help? I will ship to you. Thanks!
thats a hard one oldskool those speakers are a honeycomb glued on top of the speakercone and the round speaker in the honeycomb conbination the hard part is to get the surround for the outer honeycomb
Has anyone seen or heard from Optimus Prime? If I remember right he was able to resurrect these speakers.
you may be able to buy a foam kit for a large sub woofer and try to match the outer circumference of the diaphram with the subwoofer foam ,but you have to find one with the same total outer diameter dimension you would have to measure the diaphram in a circle to get the total length for the new surround
hey oldskool
you might laugh when you read this, but you might find someone at a shoe repair shop to make a set for you out of chamois, which is what they used years ago on high end speakers, before they started using that foam junk. a good craftsman could shape it by wetting drying and stretching it around the proper size and shape form. or, you may even find a seamstress that could make them out of linen, then you could use a very thin silicone or lacquer spray to stiffen them up. it's worth a shot.
BOINK --just got an idea for you oldskool --
because the Ck5 center section is so strong --
get some semi-matching bookshelf PIONEER speakers -
and the set will probably sound even better than the OEM set
This thought has crossed my mind. I have thought about building a new front plate for the speakers and set 5.25 or 5.50 drivers and tweeters in there and have a foam grille insert made of a material hat would match the color of the original speakers. I would put the chrome rings on it and a false center mid-tweet to keep the look if nothing else. I would use the existing cabinets as well. Just one of the ideas...
