I found an Aiwa 770 today. 3rd radio for the NYC Sanitation worker. Its grimey but i know it will clean up nice. Only bad cosmetics is that the back of the box has some weird melting marking done from some weird outside force. Couldnt tell you what caused these meltings. Radio works fine, but the tape deck seems to be stuck in some sort of play mode because I cant even get the door to close when i put a cassette in. Plus when i pres play the play wheels dont even turn. Any ideas whats wrong with it? Hit me up if you got manuals and what not. I have no idea what the "Music Sensor Program" even does. It goes up to "15" I'm guessing because it goes 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0,.1,.2.3.4 etc etc ....

So to date found in garbage....Sharp GF 777 (Still havent put the tuner glass that JVC sent me on the arm, been busy), a Lasonic TRC-975 ( going to need a new speaker chrome piece and a left door), and now the Aiwa 770. You guys rule....thanks for all help.

Great find. It sounds like you have a CS770 mk1. I would say that your cassette belt is junk and the head transport on the cassette player is stuck in play. It's a fairly easy fix if you are somewhat inclined to do so. There are a total of 3 belts on the cassette drive on a CS770. The music sensor program is a music search function. It works like this,let say you want to hear a song on a cassette that is two tracks from the track you are listening to now. You just tap the up button until the display reads "2" and press ffwd and play at the same time. the machine goes into search mode and goes "2" songs forward on the tape. It works in rewind the same way. Congrats on your find. I have a CS770mk2 ,and I love it.

Back sticker says CS-770H. Dont know what is all about. I'm quite impress with the way this box cranks. My frigging room mate/house mate took the tool box with him to Florida as well as the Digi Cam....so its gonna be sitting here for a minute untill i get the philips head from someone. (Annoying because i just bought to cans of compressed air to dust out the insides if need be)

I honestly just found a screwdriver and opened it up. I turned the wheel on a the tape deck and i got it to click back into place so i can fit a tape in. Still no movment on the wheels. Im in the process of cleaning it up as we speak. I'm taking a cig break. Photos will be posted as soon as i get a camera. Probally a few days.

Youre on a roll,the 770 is a decent box.One mans junk, is another man's treasure.

When i now try and switch to the tape plaer mode i see the number light up for the Music Sensor Program and it quickly disappears. Like its shorting ? But that cant that being the problem. Man i need an on call Mr Fix It yo! Anyone know a repair spot in the 5 bourghs of NYC or even Northern NJ ? Tri-State area? I Still wanna get the Sharp decks fixed also. Woe's is me!

Unfortunately Aiwa used belts that turned to mush after a few years yet they made fantastic tape decks which doesn't really make much sense.
A great shame as their BBXs were such fine and unique lookers.

Yeah, i opened it up and i have no idea how to fix this deck. Anyone got an idea on how to obtain these belts and what ever else i gotta do ?
