Found this machine on the streets between lot's of trash.
Since I'm new to collecting and cleaning Ghettoblasters, any help and tips on cleaning this machine are welcome!
How to get rid of the rust, or is this impossible!




p.s Does anyone here have the same machine, or got pics of this Magnavox 506

You could sand it down then use primer spray paint and then some flat black paint. First see if the grills can be removed from the inside.

I would try a wire brush and see if any of the rust could be removed. Then like Ford suggested, primer and paint.

Definitely remove the grills if possible.

DO NOT!! wire brush while grills are still on. You have to take them off.
With that kind of rust, Have you turned on the unit?
Opening that may show more than you wanna see??

Opened up but it seems I can't remove the grills from the inside or outside

The grills could be attached internall on the darker silver panels. Those panels probably come off somehow and then you should be able to get to the metal grills. If anything is put ON a boombox... there's always a way to get it OFF.
