Has anyone dove into a Big Ben at all? I opened one I have and it is pretty hacked up inside..loose wires, cut wires, broken circuit boards. Just wondering if anyone had some leftover pics of how the wiring should be inside this thing.
mulligan...how about someone just pull the back off of the BigBen and snap a pic??
OK...how about Vladi taking the back of the one I sold Him awhile back (from James67)...or James probably still has one or 2?
Hey! Just read this! You're going to laugh, but I do not have a screwdriver long enough to reach the screws - I attemtped to open it a while ago to clean the tuner board, but totally failed!
I'll get the screwdriver when I make it to Walmart next time!!
DOH !! LOL...

Did you stumble across a screwdriver yet?
I'd love to see the guts of a Big Ben! I got my bbx screwdrivers at Ace Hardware. The tips are textured so the screws don't slip (cam out). You want to preserve those old screws as much as possible. I think the driver shaft is 10-12 inches and can reach inside even large speaker boxes (3-piece bbxs).
well I'm not having any luck getting anyone to do me the quick favor....as usual...
Haven't gotten a screwdriver yet, sorry!
Hmmmmm, the longest screwdriver is 152 mm - it doesn't seem long enough for BigBen. BigBen is the only box I haven't been able to open with my existing tools - which might explain why I haven't had any problem with it yet

Long shaft philips screwdriver I have, got at Home Hardware. Has an orange handle.
Get one with the 'true' philips tip.
A true philips tip will fit perfectly on a philips screw.

100_4178 SANYO BIGBEN why sounds like krap
When I touch gently on the speaker it makes sound
when i dont touch it, the speaker dont make any sound
and while touching it the ballance works and without
the ballance dont work ... so this be one of those kind
of amplifiers that need a complete circut to
operate correctly otherwise it might burn itself out ?
I just dont know otherwise, this is a ok sounding bbx
Needs at very least this one speaker reconed I'll get
Both done when I can ...

is there a single wire that runs out from the bottom side of the circuit board kind of behind the beat cancel button (again on the bottom side of the circuit board). Mine has one and it is cut. I am trying to see where that baby goes.
So much thanks for the pics !!

1. what color is the wire?
2. how long is the wire?
3. there is a about 2 inch short wire underneath and behind that switch going from here to there
100_4180 here let me try another view
with a flashlight, maybe you can see the solderjoint better under this light because its near the edge of the ? nearly under the black plastic thing
The red wire waaay in the back is my mystery wire that goes to nowhere. This is a Japanese unit, so maybe it is a tad different, but as it stands I have no idea where that red wire in the back goes to...it is just loose in my unit...

the other end of this red wire just hangs down to nothing and doenst connect to anything and or this does-not have a plug on the end of it like mine does have all wires ending in plugs of some sort except for the three wires going form th top of the unit to the antenna as these are individual wires but they plug into the board at the top there ...
bottom line is...does yours have that red wire and if so, then where does it go. If it doesn't, then I need to find someone with a Japanese version to peek inside because I am feeling the domestic is slightly different inside...again...this one is the Japanese version. Thanks, man....
SANYO BIGBEN tried speakers on @ moontrading My favorite store
for having various speaker's brands and size's
but none of these fit exactly
as you can see here as today I spent some time
looking there for the little woofer's for this
100_4181 SANYO BIGBEN tried speaker
100_4182 SANYO BIGBEN tried speaker
100_4186 SANYO BIGBEN tried speaker
100_4187 SANYO BIGBEN tried speaker
100_4190 SANYO BIGBEN tried speaker
does anybody know where I can get these speakers
NEW ?
wow...they all look so close, but not quite the right fit, huh?
at the store there i dug around all through their store in the back
of all of their old dusty unsold junk and at some point in the
beginning I brought in the back half of this sanyo bigben just
to show them the devotion that I am putting in this old and tired
looking thing
&& To keep from having to take one speaker out to the car at a time
...
then I got the idea of shooting pic's of the
various one's that were a close fit and the closest one is the
first pic the infinity four inch as you can see that the mounting
hole's line up very nearly and maybe with washers i could get this
to work but the speaker itself didnt cover the woofer hole enough
either so I guess that i will have to take this to the ONLY Place
in Houston and see if Allen's Reconing can fix this special size
speaker and the other ones that I need fixing for that aiwa pj
something as the passive radiator's need re - radiating of the
radiator's ... so for now just need time to do so as this is My
Sunday night and tomorrow is My Monday ... sigh ...
